Video: Boston's Mayor Menino Launches Live Wire Learning Community Project

In March 2010, the Live Wire Learning Community Project was launched at the Dorchester-Franklin Field CLI (Community Leraning Initiative) site.

"The Live Wire program helps activate the City of Boston's Community Learning Initiative in a really tangible way - with a pilot program right here in Dorchester's Franklin Field neighborhood," said Boston's Mayor Thomas Menino. "This partnership with Boston-based FableVision—a national leader in educational media & technology—provides our teachers, librarians and community center
leaders with cutting edge resources and technology to fully engage students, igniting a new level of learning and demonstrating the significant impact community learning can make."

In this video, Troy Smith of the Perkins Community Center and Ellen Stonkus of Lee Elementary School talk about the program and how it is helping students express their ideas and knowledge. You'll also hear from the students themselves, as they discuss the projects and wheat they have been learning by using FableVision's Animation-ish software!
